It’s a Summer Stamping Recap!

It’s been a crazy summer around here! Even though there has been a lot of things to do I set aside a little time for myself to do some stamping. Let’s take a look at what I’ve been creating!

Stamping With Old and New

I’ve wanted to use up my craft stash and play with some of my newer products. So, the things I’ve been creating have been a blend of old and new. I always recommend not limiting yourself to just one collection or one stamp set. You can make some really creative things by combining stamp sets, paper, and embellishments!!

Plus, if you’re like me and you’re on a budget, but you want to treat yourself to something new – you still can! I like to take what I have and combine it with one new thing every few months. It helps me to get really creative and to focus on projects that I’m actually going to make.

How do you like to get creative? Let me know in the comments below!

Stamping Scrapbooking Project

This summer my husband and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary. I’ve been meaning to get around to doing some scrapbooking, so I’ve been making a page or two at a time to slowly get it done.

Our wedding was simple, traditional and really family-oriented. His kids made up his wedding party, and my sister and friends made up my bridal party. We had under 60 people in attendance and that put the focus on our family from start to finish!

I really wanted our scrapbook to reflect the day. So, I stuck to a really simple layout and brought in colors we used that day to offset the neutrals. And knowing me, we had bling that day, so each page has a touch of bling too.

I heat embossed in white on this page to highlight the words and make them pop a bit. I’m a huge fan of embossing and my heat gun gets a lot of use! I added in some colored pearls as a little nod to the pearls I wore that day and to add in some more subtle color. I wanted the focus to be on our photos, and they pop really nicely off the pages!

The coordinating designer series paper for animal outing worked really nicely for these two pages. It’s amazing how versatile Stampin’ Up!® products are. You never know where you can use them and they work so well together.

Cards Galore

This summer I also got caught up on some card making for upcoming birthdays and celebrations. I also wanted to restock the cards I keep on hand for things like thank yous and hellos too. Check out some of the cards I made that keep with the nature theme I seemed to fall even more in love with this summer.

Animal Outing: Twist and Pop Card

This was probably the most fun I had making a 3-D card in a long time! I love the colors in the animal outing cardstock pack. They turned out so nicely with the elements I added in, like the leaf ribbon and the copper thread and embossing powder. A little touch of texture goes a long way!

Sea of Textures Note Card

One octopus and two ideas later… Little pocket cards are so much fun! I like to slip a tea bag and a candy into them to leave on people’s desks and doorsteps to say hello or thank you.

Watercolors are also a favourite of mine….but they didn’t always used to be. This card may look complicated, but it’s not! Adding in two colors of ink and a spritz of water before stamping on the paper gives the octopus its under the sea look.

3-D Projects

The kids in the neighborhood love getting little treats. With more birthdays coming up, I needed to make a few new treat bags and boxes.

Treat Bags

This treat bag is actually a clear envelope! It’s self-sealing, which holds the ribbon and tag on nicely. It’s the perfect size for gift cards, cash or a chocolate bar. Hint..hint…

You can also do the same idea, but with a cellophane bag. I do that when I want to hold more stuff inside, or lumpy things…like a can of play doh or a bunch of candies.

Treat Boxes

Clear treat boxes are so much fun to emboss! Yes, you read that right. You can run clear treat boxes through the Big Shot!!

It’s hard to tell from the photos, but these two treat boxes were both embossed with big polka dots for a touch of texture.

I think it’s safe to say I had some fun with the Animal Outing bundle… And the leaf ribbon is a total favourite.

Design Tip: If you’re not a fan of the animals….the same design looks just as great without the cute little kangaroo. Just sayin’.

Weddings, anniversaries, and other celebrations call for cake! Or if you’ve seen Mama Mia 2 and need to mope a bit….cake works for that too. So versatile, right?!

Technique tip: You can emboss any stamp set with a metallic embossing powder and then color in the image with your favorite coloring tools. I love aqua painters and blender pens.

Nature’s Poem Treat Box

The Nature’s Poem stamp set is always awesome. It’s neutral and applicable for so many seasons. The weather’s been changing a lot lately, so I was feeling a little Fall inspiration coming on. Falling leaves over late summer flowers anyone?

Did you know?! The mini pizza boxes hold 3″ x 3″ cards and envelopes….and gift cards. So, when you want to give a little of something, you can give a little card too!
