How I’m Inspired By Stampin’ Dolce

I have been thinking about what inspires me a lot lately, and trying to find the motivation to create new things while being super busy with a full-time job, a family, graduate school studies (Master of Arts in Communications and Technology), and a part-time gig freelancing creative projects and running card/decor/gift workshops. I thought it was quite fitting that this week’s TGIF Challenge (#TGIFC79) is designer spotlight, and featuring none other than Krista Frattin of Stampin’ Dolce in Edmonton, Alberta (I love it when people from Canada are featured, especially when they’re so close to home!).

Inspirational Creativity: Stampin’ Dolce

Every crafter is inspired by somebody at some point in their creative endeavours. Long before I even met Krista Frattin of Stampin Dolce I was inspired by her creations. People in my life were attending a stamp club as a hobby. I was inspired by pieces they had created at the club, or afterwards on their own when they took ideas and added their own personal touches. I often wished I could attend stamp club too, but simply didn’t have the time. It was a few years later that I discovered that the person behind the stamp club creations was the same person I had stumbled upon online when I was on the hunt for new ideas for a set of cards and gift boxes.

How Stampin’ Dolce Inspired My Journey to Becoming a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Not long after that I decided to become more than just another Stampin’ Up! customer. I became a demonstrator as part of Krista’s team (without having met her first!). Krista keeps her website up to date, and she is the type of active demonstrator I wanted to learn from. I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to start to get to know Krista, and continue to be inspired to exercise my own creativity while sharing the joy of crafting and creating with others.  I sure look forward to whatever lies ahead in my journey!

Krista’s creations are always elevated, interesting and they carry a style that is true to who Krista is and what she loves. Needless to say, I am inspired by the way she creates and thinks to put things together. I love her use of layers, even in the simple layers of color on color, pattern on color, or texture on texture. My creation this week for #TGIFC79 is a take on just that – layers, texture and a little touch of color.

Stamp and Chat Designs

I attended a Stampin’ Dolce stamp and chat with Krista a couple of months ago. Here’s a peek at a card we created and my take on it:

Stampin' Dolce Joyful Christmas Card by #SocialStampers

Krista’s Stampin’ Dolce design, stamped by me; I mounted it on light blue cardstock and then on a foil embossed card to add my own personal touch.

Here’s a card that CASEd the same idea for a workshop I hosted:

Sugarplum Congratulations Card by #SocialStampers

The ladies in my workshop wanted simple and confetti fuelled congratulations, so I came up with this quick and easy card. It was a hit!

Who are you inspired by? What were you inspired to create? I’d love to hear about it!

Thanks Holly! I love paper crafting, and getting new ideas/inspiration from others keeps it fun. The sunshine dies are one of my favourites – I really like the hand drawn look and the fact that the set can be used so many different ways – it pairs well with so many looks!
